Yesterday was my last day at Georgia Tech. Not as bittersweet as some of my Life Transitions, nor as final "end of an era"-esque. 'Scool. Turned in my key, picked up my last ILL (bwah ha ha!), deleted my profiles, tidied up my mess. Lunch on Eric at Spoon, an upscale Thai place in a ratty building near Engineer's Bookstore & the fancy Salvation Army.
Applied for tide-me-over jobs on the weekend. Already had an "interview" at Petsmart down the street, will probably take the (ca. $8/hr, most likely) job as a "pet care specialist" to provide extra pocket money--i.e., tuition for bio classes next semester. Would also provide the opportunity for me to extinguish my irrational fear of bugs.
Nelson says I can be in Emory Concert Choir again this year. Tempting.
Today is the first ACSO rehearsal of the year. Materiel for tonight--Smetana: Moldau from My Father Land; Tchaikovsky: March Slave, Op. 31; Glinka: Russlan and Ludmilla Overture. Delish.
Oh, and I have an interview Thursday for a research specialist position with GB, MD/PhD at Emory School of Med. Wouldn't that be a plum letter of rec...I've been reading his book, though, and it was pretty good up until the end when he started getting all "marriage is awesome and evolutionarily adaptive!" Which is not exactly true, without an operational definition of marriage. Long-term, socially-supported relationships, okay. Church-sanctioned unions between one man and one woman? Not so much into that one. In fact, a good deal of this book (written for the layperson, granted) makes far-reaching claims without satisfactory (ha!) supporting evidence. Links are tenuous. Wonder what Amazon reviewers said?

you and dog hair?
Well, I hope you get the research job at Emory, both for the future credentials and since YOU'RE ALLERGIC TO PET DANDER! Can you imagine how sneezy and miserable the next year of your life will be if you have to hang out with dogs and cats (and bugs! but that's a whole separate issue from dander I guess) the whole time? Barnes & Noble. Barnes & Noble. Say it with me. :)I'm glad you're moving forward on the tide-me-over job search though.
Have fun at rehearsal. Though I'm sure it's not the same without the Hicken sigh. You riff-raff.
